Description

The Equagel Protector Cushion, as a skin protection cushion, performs above and beyond other cushions in the market. The Protector is 2 inches of patented EquaGel™ with a 1″ trochanter bucket sculpted in for stability and comfort followed by a 1/2″ stability foam base. The pelvic area of the cushion is contoured to more evenly distribute a user’s weight than flat cushions, while retaining 1 3/4” of buckling gel under the pressure points. EquaGel™ is a dry-polymer gel, almost rubbery to the touch, with unbelievable tensile and compression strength and incredible durability.

Key Features

  • 100% EquaGel™
  • 2 ½” tall EquaGel™ in two stages
  • Top layer: thin wall gel and tight grid for a comfort layer
  • Bottom layer: thicker wall gel and wide grid for deep posture support
  • Fluid resistant, vapour permeable, flame resistant cover

Additional Information

EquaGel™'s most amazing feature is the column buckling. Each wall of gel supports only a light load and buckles under weight, passing the load to surrounding walls for support. This happens instantly and repeatedly, ensuring maximum surface area is evenly supported by largely equalised pressure. The peak pressure points of the ischial tuberosities and the coccyx/sacrum buckle into the EquaGel™, feeling almost free-floating within the cushion while the thighs and buttock are supported.

Each cushion utilises a two-stage buckling approach. The top layer, with a small grid of gel, is extra sensitive to pressure needs and acts as the comfort layer. This top layer buckles easily, allowing the parts of the user that need support to sink into the lower support layer, while maintaining good posture for the rest of the user. This cushion also features a pelvic contour that mimics the natural sitting shape, further distributing pressure away from sensitive areas.
